Military plane buzzes skyscrapers in Australia

Residents of Brisbane were startled recently when a military plane was caught on camera flying low through the city.

Cell phone video shows the C-17A Globemaster plane approaching a high rise before swooping upward.

The Australian Air Force issued a statement Tuesday saying the exercise was planned and under full supervision of air traffic control.

The maneuver was all part of the city's Riverfire celebration, the Brisbane Times reported.

An aviation photographer who has covered other flyovers told the newspaper that this was the lowest he's seen the plane fly.

"Last year, it was flying quite a bit higher, but the low altitude this year made all the difference for the photos because I was looking directly at it or even down at it," Tim Dwyer told the Times.
