Memorial Day 2019: Deals and freebies on food for veterans and active duty

On Monday, we remember the sacrifices made by those who died in service to the country.

Several national restaurant chains are honoring active duty military members, veterans and Gold Star families on Memorial Day with deals and free meals at participating locations.

Below, are a few of those deals.

(Note: Not every restaurant in a chain may be honoring the deals, so be sure to check with local restaurants to confirm which deals are available before you go. Most offers are dine-in only and can’t be used with any other discount or coupons. Prices may vary with location.) 

Applebee's: Active duty and retired servicemembers and their families get 10% off their bill through May 31 at participating locations.

Chuck E. Cheese's: Active duty military, reservists and retired service members get special deals when they show their Common Access Card, Uniformed Services ID Card or Dependent ID Card. The deals are available year-around.

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill: On Monday, veterans, active duty military and Gold Star family members get a free entrée with the purchase of another entrée.

Fogo de Chão: Veterans and active duty personnel can get 50% off meals Monday. Up to three of their guests get 10% off their meals. Military ID required.

Hooters: Veterans and active military get a free entrée Monday from a special menu. Deal requires a military ID and drink purchase.

LaMar's Donuts: Get a free doughnut and small coffee Monday if you are a veteran or active duty military.

Logan's Roadhouse: Active-duty military and veterans get a free meal from a special menu Monday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. with proof of service.

McCormick & Schmick's: Active duty military, veterans, Gold Star parents and spouses and National Guard members get a free entree Monday.

Ninety Nine Restaurant & Pub: Purchase a meal Monday and if you are a veteran or active duty military, you can get a free entrée from the "9 Real Size Entrées for $9.99 Menu." Proof of service is required.

Old Country Buffet: Active duty, Reserve and retired military always get a 15% discount off their meal at Old Country Buffet. On Military Mondays, military members and their families get additional deals. Proof of service is required.

Outback Steakhouse: Get 20% off your meal through Monday if you are active duty military, veterans, police officers or firefighters. Must show ID.

Potbelly Sandwich Shop: Active duty military and veterans get a buy-one-get-one offer on sandwiches, salads and Pick-Your-Pair items. Must show ID.

Texas de Brazil: Active duty military and veterans can get a 50% discount off dinner in addition to a 20% discount for up to eight additional guests.

Rubio's Coastal Grill: Active duty military and veterans get a free entree with the purchase of an adult entrée Monday. Must show a military ID and a bring this coupon.

Twin Peaks: Military personnel with ID get a free meal Monday from a select menu.
