The honor, which Billboard announced Monday, is a first for Carey's hit, which reached the No. 3 spot in December 2018 and again last week. The new ranking marks her 19th No. 1 song ever – the most for a solo artist, the magazine said. Among all acts, only the Beatles had more Hot 100 chart-toppers, with 20.
The last time a holiday song reached No. 1 was in in 1958 and 1959, when the Chipmunks' "The Chipmunk Song" reigned, Billboard said.
After learning of her achievement Monday, Carey took to Twitter to celebrate the news.
"We did it," she wrote to her 21.4 million followers.
