She had come home from work and asked her husband about the dog.
“(There) was no more Pip,” he replied.
She wanted to know what happened. Leneweaver said he would tell her after they put their children to bed, the Reading Eagle reported.
Later that evening, Leneweaver told her that he got upset with Pip when he would not go to the door and go outside. When he reached for the dog from under the table it bit him. Leneweaver grabbed the dog and threw it against the wall, authorities said.
He went to the garage, got an ax and partially severed Pip’s head, killing him.
Authorities later searched the property with the wife. They found the bloodied ax with pieces of hair on it. Pip’s carcass was found inside a nearby garbage can.
Leneweaver, 41, was arrested and charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals, torture, the Reading Eagle reported.
He was being held in jail on $2,500 bail.
