Christian Castro, of California, was arrested Wednesday night on charges of trafficking marijuana (excess of 25 pounds), possession of over 20 grams of marijuana, smuggling marijuana into the state and possession of marijuana with intent to sell, according to the report.
Castro was traveling from Bakersfield, California, to Jacksonville via Southwest Airlines.
A DEA agent advised the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office that they would need a narcotics detection K-9 around 6 p.m. after the plane landed, the arrest report detailed. K-9 Ace conducted a luggage lineup sniff and alerted to a green suitcase, the report said. Two suitcases with about 50 pounds of marijuana were eventually discovered, authorities said.
Castro was taken to the Duval County Jail without incident and the contraband was seized by the DEA.
