Maine man dies after driving on frozen lake, crashing through ice, officials say

A Maine man died Wednesday night after he drove onto a frozen lake and crashed through the ice, officials said.

According to WMTW and WCSH, 63-year-old Brian Wardwell, of Orland, and his dog were in Wardwell's truck when the thin ice covering Alamoosok Lake gave way. Both Wardwell and the dog died.

Officials said another man also fell into the icy water while trying to save Wardwell, the news outlets reported. He was able to make it to safety, authorities said.

No further information was immediately available.
