A Las Vegas mother is facing a murder charge after authorities said she intentionally drowned her toddler daughter.

According to the Las Vegas police, 44-year-old Linette Boedicker, aka Linette Warrichaiet, was arrested Saturday after officers found the unresponsive 2-year-old floating in the bathtub of a North Walnut Avenue apartment shortly after 3 p.m. Emergency personnel performed CPR and took the girl to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators believe that Boedicker "held the child under the water until she stopped breathing and then called 911," police said in a news release Sunday. Although a dispatcher instructed Boedicker to remove her daughter from the tub and perform CPR, the woman refused, the release said.

Boedicker also didn't answer the door until almost two minutes after officers arrived, police Lt. Ray Spencer told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The girl's death came just hours after police responded to a possible domestic disturbance at the same home Saturday morning, according to the newspaper. That incident involved Boedicker's husband or boyfriend, who was not at the apartment when police responded to the drowning call, officials said.

Boedicker, who was charged with open murder, is being held at the Clark County Detention Center.
