The biopic follows Franklin's iconic rise from a child who sang in her father's church choir to becoming an international entertainer and the Queen of Soul, Entertainment Weekly reported.
Along with Hudson, the film stars Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Tituss Burgess, and Mary J. Blige, Rolling Stone reported.
Franklin died in August 2018.
The film will be released Aug. 14, 2020.
