An Iowa man is accused of attempted murder after allegedly breaking into a home with a gun and sledgehammer, authorities said.

Eric Bryon Munson, 39, of Perry, was arrested Jan. 5 and charged with first-degree burglary and attempted murder, according to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. He was being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond, according to arrest records.

According to the Woodward Police Department, Munson entered a home at 6:45 p.m. using the sledgehammer, according to KCCI. Police said Munson chased two men around the home while a woman hid in the bedroom, WHO-TV reported. The woman escaped unharmed from a bedroom window, according to KDLS Radio.

Police said Munson "left three rounds of ammunition in the living room" from a long gun before returning to his home, WHO reported.

Authorities went to Munson's home, and after a brief standoff he surrendered, KCCI reported.
