Cobb County police said Crandall caused severe burns to the back and side of the dog, disfiguring her.
He pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated cruelty to animals and was sentenced to five years with four in custody, Cobb court records show.
He was granted first-offender status, meaning his record will be sealed if he completes his sentence without getting into any further legal trouble. He is also prohibited from owning, working with and volunteering with animals until his probation is over, records show.
