Deputies said the Orange County Sheriff's Office and Orlando Police Department investigated the incident after the video was shared.
Colon was arrested on a warrant Tuesday morning.
“Cruelty to animals will not be tolerated,” deputies said in a social media post.
Deputies said investigators were unsuccessful in their efforts to find the cat. They said its condition is unknown.
ARRESTED: Kelvin Colon, 19, on one count of felony Cruelty to Animals. He was filmed flinging a cat into the air by its tail & video was posted on social media. OPD and OCSO investigated, and he was arrested on a warrant this morning.
