An Arizona woman and her boyfriend are jailed and facing murder charges in the death of the woman’s mother, police said.

After receiving a tip on an unreported homicide, investigators with the Mohave County Sheriff's Office went to a home in Kingman and made a gruesome discovery, according to the Kingman Daily Miner.

They found a body in a 55-gallon drum buried in a shallow grave behind the home.

Detectives said Carrie Conlyn Vanover, 23, and Mark Anthony Baldanado Jr., 31, allegedly confessed to the killing, which happened in April, and were arrested.

They are both charged with first-degree murder, the Daily Miner reported.

Authorities believe the body is Vanover’s mother, Shawn Maureen Vanover, but won’t have a positive identification until an autopsy is completed.

Mark Anthony Baldanado Jr., 31, is accused in the death of Shawn Maureen Vanover, who authorities believe was found in a 55-gallon drum found buried in a shallow grave in the backyard of a home in Kingman, Arizona.
