A cat was found frozen to a shipping container outside a Boston area restaurant during a cold night last week.

The cat somehow survived and is now being nursed back to health by the Animal Rescue League of Boston. The long-haired tabby cat, only 2 years old and weighing just under 7 pounds, is slowly regaining its strength.

An animal control officer found the cat outside a TGI Friday's, and the cat was frozen to the box.

The tabby, now named Schooner, will be ready for adoption soon. Until then, he’s been doing well despite the close call in the cold.

“He is making good progress and gaining weight while he’s here, and we’re already seeing that progress being made, so he’s definitely on the road to recovery and doing really well,” said Anabelle Goldston, an animal care associate.

If you’re interested in adopting Schooner, you can keep an eye on the Animal Rescue League’s website and the ARL will post updates once he’s available.
