Brother confronts man who robbed sister, hits him with car

A Wisconsin man whose sister was robbed at the convenience store where she works took matters into his own hands in tracking down the suspect.

Calmonta Harris told WISN that on Saturday afternoon, his sister alerted him that she had just been robbed at the Speedway gas station where she works. Harris sprang into action, getting into his car and following the suspect, who fled the store on foot.

A surveillance camera captured the encounter between the two men. In the video, Harris can be seen striking the suspect with his car, then getting out of the car, at which point a physical and verbal altercation occurs. Harris told WISN that the man made it appear as if he had a weapon in his pocket, so he went back to his car and grabbed a hammer to defend himself.

Police arrived quickly on the scene and arrested both men. The suspect was arrested on a robbery charge and Harris was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor domestic battery charge, WISN reported. Wauwatosa Police Department officials said charges against Harris for his actions in taking down the robbery suspect are not being pursued.

Harris told WISN that he would take the same actions again to defend his sister.
