"The bear worked on digging out through all (four) doors, but apparently butt-shifted the car into neutral," the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook.

The car hit a tree and was totaled, but in the process, a door popped open, allowing the bear to escape in an unknown direction, investigators said.
