Baby boy dies after dad leaves twins in hot minivan at Alabama dealership, police say

An 11-month-old boy is dead after he and his twin were found in a hot minivan parked outside an Alabama car dealership, authorities said.

According to AL.com and WBMA-TV, police said the twins' father, an employee at Sunny King Honda in Oxford, left the baby boy and girl in the vehicle Friday morning after he drove to work. He realized that the children were still inside after he received a phone call from their mother about 3 1/2 hours later, authorities said.

The man called 911 just before noon and removed the twins from the vehicle, authorities said. Emergency responders arrived to find the boy dead, AL.com reported. The boy's sister is in good condition, Oxford Police Chief Bill Partridge told the news outlet.

Partridge, who described the children's father as "distraught," said police are continuing to investigate, according to AL.com. No one has been charged in connection with the death, WBMA reported.
