The release also noted that national experts fear a rise in later stage cancer diagnoses as a result of people putting off those screenings due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The goal of the program is to provide on-site screenings for members in the community by making stops in the area as well as outside workplaces. The mobile unit will be throughout Springfield as well as making a stop in Urbana and Fairborn this month.
There are six scheduled destinations for the mobile program for the remainder of the month.

The Champaign County Fairgrounds, 384 Park Ave., Urbana from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 11
Mercy Health- East Springfield Internal Medicine, 2100 E. High St., Springfield from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 14
Mercy Health- Family Physicians of Springfield, 247 S. Burnett Road, Springfield from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 17
Walgreens, 2609 E. Main St., Springfield from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 18
Rocking Horse Community Health Center, 651 S. Limestone St., Springfield from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 20
West Enon Church of God, 4800 Snider Road, Fairborn from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 27.
The mobile unit offers traditional 2D imaging as well as advanced 3D imaging known as breast tomosynthesis that can help increase the chance of detecting breast cancer early, according to representatives of Mercy Health.
Screenings will be completed in 15 minutes or less and technicians are required to follow guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention related to the COVID-19 pandemic, representatives of Mercy Health added.
While mammogram screenings may be covered by insurance, those participating are asked to verify if Springfield Regional Medical Center is an in-network provider with their insurance carrier.
Those that are uninsured or underinsured may be eligible for financial need-based assistance programs and may qualify for a no-cost mammogram. For more information call 937-523-9332.
