Mercy Health Mobile Mammography van to make rounds in March

A mobile mammography van will be dispatched to multiple locations around Clark County throughout the month of March.

The program is administered by Mercy Health and the goal is to offer safe and easily accessible screenings from a mobile unit that can be dispatched close to patients’ homes or places of work.

“......experts nationally fear a rise in later stage cancer diagnoses as a result of the pandemic. It’s important to remember that the earlier the diagnosis, the better the outcome and there are options available for safe cancer screenings,” said a recent news release from Mercy Health.

The program offers traditional 2D imagining as well as advanced 3D imaging known as breast tomosynthesis that can help increase the chance of detecting breast cancer early, the news release noted.

Though those screenings may be covered by insurance, representatives of Mercy Health ask those wanting to do a mobile mammography to check if Springfield Regional Medical Center is an in-network provider with their insurance carrier.

Those who are uninsured or underinsured may be qualified for financial need-based assistance programs. Those interested are asked to call 937-523-9332 for more information.

Appointments for the screenings can be made by calling 937-523-9332. Walk-ins are generally available but not guaranteed, representatives of the health care network said.
