Storms, damaging winds, hail possible today

A few storms are popping up in the Miami Valley this afternoon.

Our team of meterologists is watching the changing weather and are concerned about the storms gaining strength as they shift southeast through late this afternoon and evening in the Miami Valley.

Meteorologist McCall Vrydaghs is tracking the weather where we are seeing quite a bit of lightning with some of the cells.

No severe weather warnings have been received, though that can change at a moment's notice. Stay on top of the weather with the free WHIO Weather app for your mobile device. It will alert you when there are warnings as they are issued, and you can use the interactive radar and get live streaming of weather updates.

MONDAY AFTERNOON WEATHER - Stormcenter 7's McCall Vrydaghs
Scattered showers and storms continue to develop just north of I-70 and are expected to push southward into the evening. These storms have produced heavy rain, lightning and some stronger winds. South of this line we have warm and very humid air in place. This will provide ingredients good for storm development. Showers and storms should come to an end for a bit tonight before another wave of showers and storms arrive tomorrow morning. That'll keep it mild and muggy through the night with lows around 70 degrees.

TUESDAY
Showers and storms expected into the morning. Heavy rain and some lightning are the biggest threats during the morning hours. Some break in the precipitation is possible, then another line of storms may redevelop in the afternoon as a cold front pushes through. This line will have a better chance to produce stronger storms, mainly southeast near I-71. Warm and humid again with highs in the low 80s.

WEDNESDAY
Partly sunny with a few afternoon showers possible on Wednesday. Highs in the upper 70s.

THURSDAY - FRIDAY
Looking great both Thursday and Friday. Mainly sunny with low humidity. Highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.

SATURDAY
Partly cloudy and warm on Saturday. Chance of scattered showers or storms.
