“We’re looking into it,” Castillo said. “We definitely want that. It’s something that we’re behind the times as far as other agencies.”
The lack of an online registration system is something participants are constantly asking about, she said.
The district saw more than 100,000 participants in its programming last year, Castillo said. There are more than 100 programs which require registration, including athletic, nature, swimming and fitness activities. The district introduced 43 new programs and special events last year and increased its summer camp registrations.
“It would be more user-friendly for our program participants,” Castillo said.
The district spent approximately $20,000 of permanent improvement funds to upgrade computers this year and will continue the process in 2015, Castillo said.
The system would be separate from NTPRD.org, which is hosted by Golf Channel Solutions through its partnership with GolfNow.com — at no cost to the district.
“It would make things much more efficient for our staff and participants,” Castillo said.
