A motion to suppress hearing is scheduled today for the Springfield man who is charged in connection to a home invasion that occurred in Huber Heights last May.

FIRST REPORT: Teen bound in Huber Heights, father’s body found 19 miles away in Springfield park

Jonavon A.K. McCoy, 23, has been charged with aggravated burglary and two counts each of aggravated robbery and kidnapping after two teens were bound with zip ties in their Shull Avenue home on May 22, 2018.
A 911 caller said her 14-year-old son said his father left the home around 11 p.m. the night before and didn't return. The woman said her son and another boy were tied up by two men hours later, around 4 a.m.

Court records say he forced the teens to hobble around in zip ties, helping him search the interior of the house while he "was on the phone with an unknown person who appeared to be directing him around the house".

McCoy robbed them and hours later they managed to untie themselves.  Police gathered evidence at the scene, including a glove McCoy wore in the house.

Huber Heights police issued a warrant for McCoy’s arrest in February of this year. U.S. Marshals were able to track him down in Cincinnati.

Cedric Holt Jr., identified as the father of one of the teens, was found deceased in a Springfield park about 9 a.m. His death was ruled a homicide.

McCoy has not been charged in Holt's death.

We will update this story with any new details that emerge from today’s hearing.
