The call to action was penned by Good and Sandy Bashaw in response to the mass shooting in Dayton's Oregon District that left 10 dead, including the gunman.
At least 27 others were injured enough to require medical treatment.

A portion of the song says:
“It’s long past time for talkin’
And long past time to cry
Long past time for the wringing of hands
past time to say we’ll try.”
Bashaw said she, her husband and band mates have played music in the Oregon District for 30 or more years and consider it a “cultural home.”
“It was such a hit to home,” she said said of the shooting and tragic loss of life. “Intense, sad, scary, awful. This thing keeps going on and on and on. This time it hit our beloved Oregon District.”
WHERE DID THE CHANT COME FROM?
Several people who attended a candlelight vigil in the Oregon District the day of the shooting chanted at the governor to “do something.”
In announcing his proposals Tuesday, Aug. 6, DeWine indicated that he heard them.
“I understand that anger,” DeWine said. “Some chanted ‘do something’ and they were absolutely right. We must do something, and that is exactly what we are going to do.”

Some say the proposals go too far. Others say they are a start, but don’t go far enough.
