State troopers ID man killed in I-70 rollover crash that injured 6-year-old in Clark County

A man driving a pickup truck was killed Wednesday night and a 6-year-old boy riding with him was injured in a rollover crash on Interstate 70 East.

Gary Crouser Sr., 57, of Washington, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The boy was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver apparently lost control around 9:11 p.m. during icy conditions, went off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail near the exit to state Route 41, or South Charleston Pike, the release said.

The impact caused the pickup truck to flip multiple times, coming to a rest on its side.

Crouser was partly thrown from the truck, which landed on top of him in a ravine off the highway shoulder. The boy was found in the truck.

This crash is still under investigation, but state troopers urged drivers to slow down during poor weather, and to always wear a seatbelt.
