Outstanding citizenship award recipients

The George Rogers Clark Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), presented the SAR Outstanding Citizenship Award to 15 outstanding eighth-grade students in Springfield and surrounding school districts. This is the 25th year for this SAR program for students who attend city, county, Christian, parochial and private schools. Students received the awards from an SAR Compatriot at their school’s awards day assembly or graduation ceremony between May 20-June 3.

Recipients, listed by school and order of presentation, for 2011 are: Micah Bragg, Emmanuel Christian; Bobby Chaffin, Springfield Christian; Jessica Hawbecker, Possum; Kurt Joseph Hamlin, Bethel JHS; Kara Patterson, Reid; Alexandria Barnes, Rockway; Holden Fosnaugh, South Vienna; Mackenzie Schleinitz, Northridge; Demarco Cannon, Hayward; Courtney Mulford, Tecumseh; Taylor Dennis, Northwestern; Marcus J. Acton, Indian Valley; Lindsey Kate McCready, Ridgewood; Dorian McCleary, Schaefer; and Kelsey Deer, Roosevelt.

Presenting these awards this year were the following George Rogers Clark compatriots: President Terry A. Whetstone; Past President John A. Buffenbarger, and Compatriot Jeffery A. Whitt.
