The Ohio Department of Agriculture has announced that it will be waiving a required money-match for county and independent fairs to received up to $50,000 in grant funds for necessary facility and grounds improvements.

Normally these funds would only be available if fairs could also secure $50,000 in funds from local governments and businesses.

“I understand the financial hardships many are experiencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” ODA Director Dorothy Pelanda said. “While it is uncertain whether fairs will be able to safely operate this year, they still have facilities expenses. The Ohio Department of Agriculture wants to ensure each fair has access to these important funds.”

Ohio’s operating budget set aside $4.7 million in the program for these grants. Fair managers must apply by May 30.
