A 29-year-old man killed in a crash on South Center Boulevard Tuesday evening after he apparently lost control of the black SUV he was driving at high speed has been identified.
Davon Wilson, of Springfield, was headed south on Center Boulevard at speeds witnesses told police appeared to reach at least 65 mph when he apparently lost control, Springfield police said.
The crash was reported at 7:15 p.m.
The investigation reveals he over-corrected, hit a line of trees and was thrown from the SUV. The posted speed limit for the street is 35 mph, police said.
Members of the police traffic investigators team were on the scene for several hours Tuesday night.
