All proceeds of the sales of Mutt’s Sauce Limited Edition Bourbon Sauce, made with Stillwrights bourbon produced by Flat Rock Spirits distillery near Fairborn, will go to Dayton-area disaster recovery, according to Charlynda Scales, CEO of Mutt’s Sauce.

The sauce is available for pre-order until July 1 on www.muttssauce.com. Discounts will be given for bulk orders.
“This is a partnership that has been discussed for years,” Scales said. “All good things come in due time. I contacted Brad Measel, co-owner of Stillwrights, with the proposal. We love this area and thought this was a great way to give back to the community.”

Measel said he met Scales last summer at an event in Fairborn.
“I was impressed immediately by her enthusiasm. Call it energy or drive, passion, intensity, whatever, Charlynda has it like crazy,” Measel said. “Her sauces are fantastic, so when she asked if we’d be interested in a collaboration, I couldn’t pass it up. The fact that she will be using proceeds to help out the community is just outstanding.”

A Tennessee native, Scales spent 11 years in active duty in the U.S. Air Force, the last five of which was at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Mutt’s, an all-purpose sauce, is sold in more than 85 Kroger stores in Ohio. It is based on a family recipe that Scales’ late grandfather bequeathed to her in 2013. In 2017, Bob Evans Farms named Mutt’s Sauce a winner of the company’s “Heroes to CEOs” contest. Mutt’s Sauce and two other businesses were awarded a $25,000 business grant.

Measel co-owns Flat Rock Spirits, which bottles and sells its retail spirits under the Stillwrights brand and label, with his brother Shawn Measel and cousin James Bagford. The distillery hosted its grand opening in 2014 in Bath Twp. just outside Fairborn.
