OSP focuses on driver of minivan that rear-ended semi on Ohio 235 in Clark County

UPDATE @ 5:40 p.m.: State patrol investigators are looking into whether the driver of a minivan was impaired or distracted when it slammed into the rear of a flatbed semitrailer that had stopped on state Route 235 for a school bus, Springfield post Commander Lt. Brian Aller said.

Christie Martin, 28, of New Carlisle, was taken to the Upper Valley Medical Center, he said. Her condition was not known.

The passenger, Josh James, age and hometown not given, is being treated at Miami Valley Hospital.

"His injuries were pretty severe," Cmdr. Aller said.

The accident, which occurred Wednesday afternoon on state Route 235 South near Ballentine Pike, has been cleared and the road has reopened to traffic.

The semi driver was not injured.

The school bus was not involved in the accident, which occurred just after 3 p.m. near the Clark County/Champaign County line.
