EARLIER COVERAGE: ‘Pippin’ lead goes to great heights
This performance was to be the final show in the 2016-2017 Broadway and Beyond Series season, which is jointly presented by the Clark State Performing Arts Center and the Springfield Arts Council, and won’t be rescheduled this season, according to Clark State representatives.
“Pippin” ticket holders will receive a full refund. Those purchased by credit card will be automatically refunded to the card used for purchase, and those purchased by cash or check will receive a refund check by mail. Ticket-holders should allow 30 days for processing.
“It’s unusual but not entirely unheard of,” said Tim Rowe, Springfield Arts Council executive director. “It’s very unfortunate. This is a great show. But these things happen.”

Written by famed lyricist and composer Stephen Schwartz between his other hits, “Godspell” and “Wicked,” “Pippin” tells the story of a performing troupe that guides a young prince named Pippin trying to figure out his direction in life.
Clark State Performing Arts Center Executive Director Adele Adkins said she’d never experienced a show cancellation in her prior 15-year stint at the University of Maine. But when Interstate 70 was shut down for 24 hours, she said it became serious.
“We at Clark State are upset for our patrons,” she said. “We would like to try to schedule ‘Pippin’ for another season if possible.”
The new Broadway and Beyond season will return in the fall.
