Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer gets threatening online messages after rough game

Cleveland Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer said he received a series of hateful and threatening messages after a poor outing against the Chicago White Sox on Monday, WEWS reported.

Bauer (4-2) allowed a career-high eight runs -- including seven earned -- and yielded 10 hits and two home runs in five innings during a 9-1 loss at Cleveland’s Progressive Field.

In a tweet after the game, Bauer shared screenshots of several messages he received on Instagram. Several were profane, and Bauer said he even received some death threats against him and his family, WJW reported.

"Stop online harassment, bullying, and hate speech," Bauer tweeted.

Chicago endeBauer's streak of starts allowing four earned runs or less at 60, The Associated Press reported. It was the the second-longest streak since 1970, topped only by Greg Maddux's 106 run from 1991 to 1994.
