Greenon girl’s soccer coach to return Friday after weeklong leave

Greenon High School’s varsity girls soccer coach will return to work on Friday after being placed on leave for “unprofessional conduct” last week.

Jamie Wiggins was placed on paid administrative leave Aug. 27 after reports she “engaged in unprofessional conduct involving parents of student-athletes on the Greenon High School women’s soccer team on school property following the end of the game on Aug. 26,” district communications coordinator Megan Anthony said in a statement.

Wiggins’ leave was scheduled to run through 11:59 p.m. Tuesday in order to allow for “completion of an internal investigation of these matters,” Anthony said.

“Following an investigation into an incident involving the parents of a student-athlete at the conclusion of a Greenon girls soccer game on Aug. 26, Greenon High School girls varsity soccer coach Ms. Jamie Wiggins received a 2-game suspension for unprofessional conduct,” Anthony said on Wednesday afternoon.

Assistant coach Heather Cramblett served as interim head coach for a game on Tuesday and will serve again on Thursday, Anthony said.

“Ms. Wiggins will resume head coaching responsibilities on Friday, Sept. 4,” Anthony said.

Wiggins has served as Greenon High School’s varsity girls head soccer coach for the last five years, according to the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s coach directory.

In January, she was inducted into the Greenon Athletics Hall of Fame, according to Greenon’s website. She graduated from Greenon High in 1998 before continuing on to play soccer at the Ohio State University.
