According to an arrest affidavit by the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office, Karolyn S. Griffith, 30, of Sanford, was arrested early Friday and charged with grand larceny theft, fraud and giving false information to a law enforcement officer. Griffith was released Friday afternoon, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office.
An employee at the Gold Rush arcade in Port St. Lucie told investigators Griffith was “winning too much money and it that it did not make sense,” according to the affidavit. The employee said Griffith’s winning ticket amounts were $307, $398, $493, $136, $228 and $144, according to the affidavit
Investigators said when they confronted Griffith, she attempted to hide a black electronic box with a red button and antenna that was in her purse.
Investigators tested the device, and a deputy was able to add credits to one of the machines, TCPalm reported. The amount of money missing from the machines Griffith played was $2,790, according to the arrest affidavit.
