Five fall activities to do in Springfield this weekend

Kick off the first weekend of fall with these five activities in Springfield.

1. Haunted housing

Face Your Fears Hotel of Terror, located at 1291 Cold Springs Rd. in Springfield, opens at 8 p.m. Friday.

The haunted attraction will be open 8 p.m. to midnight every Friday and Saturday through Saturday, Oct. 31. Tickets are $20.

The 1854 4-story haunted house will feature a “wine cellar” this year, which was found when the owner was knocking down a wall.

2. Pumpkin picking

Mad Pumpkins, located at 3183 Lower Valley Pike in Springfield, is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week through Oct. 31.

The all-outdoor pumpkin patch will offer a large variety of pumpkins, hayrides, a playground, several photo opportunities including the Flight of Fall wings, decorative cookies and fall decorations.

3. Oktoberfest foods

Hafle Winery, located at 2369 Upper Valley Pike in Springfield, is serving Oktoberfest foods through Saturday.

Dinner is served 5 to 9 p.m. and the bar is open until 10 p.m. The menu includes a pretzel burger, bratwurst, polish sausage and sauerkraut.

4. Outdoor concert

Gene Bowshier, Billy Hall and Casey Motschman will perform at 5 p.m. Friday in the outdoor courtyard of the Clark State Performing Arts Center, 300 S. Fountain Ave. in Springfield.

The free concert will featuring country and southern rock music. Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Masks are required.

There will be a cash bar with beer and wine at the event.

5. Farmers market

The Springfield Farmers Market, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Heritage Center Museum, 117 S. Fountain Ave. in Springfield will feature dozens of local vendors with fresh vegetables, meats, dairy products and baked goods.

Admission is free.
