Fairborn artist honors his late mother with custom casket

Fairborn sign painter and pinstriper Shane Syx pays homage to his late mother, Shirley Ann Syx, by adding his artwork to her casket. Syx has done eight caskets, including his father’s, and several urns. The frog represents his father, the butterfly his mother, and the little butterflies his brothers and sisters.

The frog represents his father, the butterfly his mother, and the little butterflies his brothers and sisters.

His mother, who was born in Springfield, lived in Fairborn and died Oct. 4 with her son at her side. Her funeral service was Friday.
