Various tools reported stolen from Springfield storage unit

A storage unit was broken into this week and various tools were reported stolen, according to a Springfield police report.

Officers responded around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday to Sleeping Bear Self Storage, 1010 Mitchell Blvd. on a report of a break-in to a storage unit.

When police arrived, the victim told them he pays rent for the unit and different tools were missing.

“(The victim) advised that the last time he was at the storage unit was on Jan. 4, around 1:30 p.m. and all of his items were still in the unit,” the report says. “(The victim) advised that when he arrived to take some of his tools from the storage unit, he realized the lock had been cut off the door.”

The items stolen include two Milwaukee sawzalls, a Milwaukee saw, two Dewalt jigsaws, a Dewalt biscuit joiner, a Dewalt hand planer, a Dewalt ridgid router, a socket set, a Milwaukee right angle drill, 15 miscellaneous bits for drills, two floor fans and the lock for the door.

No suspect information was available, and Springfield police continue their investigation into this break-in.
