However, the hearing was continued on July 16 in Clark County Common Pleas Court Judge’s Richard O’Niell’s courtroom as attorneys for Young wait for final reports from experts, according to court officials.
According to court documents filed in Clark County Municipal Court, Springfield police officers were originally dispatched to a home on Warder Street on a disorderly call around 11:15 a.m. on April 5.
When officers arrived at the home a woman told officers about Young’s alleged abuse of the young girl.
An affidavit says, “Officers spoke with Mr. Young who admitted to having a problem and needing help….Mr. Young waived his rights and admitted to officers he did have child victim one touch his genitalia in an inappropriate manner for sexual gratification.’
Officers were able to photograph the scene and collect evidence, according to the affidavit. Police said Young was arrested and once he was at police headquarters he again admitted to abusing the child.
He was booked into Clark County Jail but was later released after posting a $10,000 bond.
Young has been out of jail since. The municipal court case was dropped, but he was indicted in Clark County Common Pleas Court where he entered the guilty pleas.
