Second arrest made in Darke County man’s slaying

RANDOLPH COUNTY, Ind. — A second man was arrested Friday, Nov. 13, in the slaying of a 54-year-old Darke County man whose body was found in a van parked on a street in Greenville, Ohio.

David W. Mizner, 19, of Winchester, Ind., was arrested on South Main Street in Winchester and is being held on preliminary charges of murder, robbery and assisting a criminal in the death of Patrick Cheadle of Ansonia.

Mizner’s arrest comes a day after Terry J. Durbin, 40, was apprehended on North Main Street in Winchester, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department said Friday.

No details about the arrests of Durbin or Mizner were given and the sheriff’s department has not said what led authorities to the suspects.

The sheriff’s department did indicate that it mistakenly said Durbin is from New Carlisle, Ohio, in Clark County.

Durbin is from New Carlisle, Ind., sheriff’s Detective Tom Pullins said Friday.

Durbin is preliminarily being charged with murder and robbery, according to Randolph County authorities. If convicted, he could be imprisoned for 45 to 65 years on the murder charge and 20 to 50 years on the robbery charge.

The case that began as a suspicious death investigation in Greenville on Nov. 3, when Cheadle’s body was found in a vehicle on Elm Street, was expanded Tuesday, Nov. 10, to include Randolph County.

Greenville police and Randolph County authorities believe a rural home there was where the homicide occurred.

No preliminary autopsy results have been made public.
