Eric and Jennifer Sirons began filing for divorce in March, according to Clark County Court records.
Eric Sirons, who shot and killed his wife and stepdaughter Andrea Heiser on Tuesday night, was living in the basement of their Quinlan Court home as the divorce was proceeding.
The court filed a mutual restraining order and warned both of them not harass each other. Eric Sirons was living in the basement “in order to be removed from any altercations between the parties,” according to the court filings.
One family member told News Center 7’s John Bedell that the family was aware the marriage was contentious, but had no idea Eric was capable of the kind of violence committed on Tuesday.
Eric Sirons, 56, was a well known member of the Springfield community. He is listed on the Chamber of Greater Springfield’s website as membership director.
Heiser was an undergrad studying statistics at Wright State University, university officials said Wednesday. Also Wednesday, Clark County officials confirmed that Jennifer Sirons was employed by Clark County Juvenile Court.
“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of a talented county employee,” the county Board of Commissioners said in a statement released Wednesday.
