Officers responded around 5:40 a.m. Tuesday to an apartment in the 1200 block of East High Street on a report of a burglary, according to a Springfield police report.

When police arrived, they spoke with the victim who said that someone broke into his residence sometime overnight while he was at work and stole $1,800 worth of items.

“(The victim) stated he arrived home and noticed his residence was ransacked,” the report says.

Officers found damage to the front door and to the bathroom glass and window frame.

“The front door appeared to have a few pry marks,” the report says. “The bathroom window was pulled out and he believes that’s how the suspect(s) gained entry into the residence and stole the items.”

According to the report, the items stolen include a 12 gauge shotgun, an HP laptop, an Xbox One, a 43-inch TV, a spare car key and personal papers.

No witness or suspect information was available.

Springfield police continue their investigation into this burglary.
