Coronavirus: Springfield Fire and Rescue volunteer at Clark County vaccination clinic

Personnel from Springfield Fire and Rescue EMS volunteered at the Clark County Combined Health District’s COVID-19 vaccination clinic this week.

The three personnel volunteered from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, as the CCCHD was set to administer more than 2,000 first doses of vaccine, according to a release from the health district.

“Volunteers of all kinds are what enabled the health department to continue to increase capacity while keeping wait times, crowds, distances’ traveled, low or non-existent,” Clark County Combined Health District Commissioner Charles Patterson said. “Without (volunteers), we would have long lines, unhappy citizens and not as many doses.”

The health district has been administering 1,000 to 2,000 doses of vaccine a week at its vaccination clinics at the former JCPenney at the Upper Valley Mall.

Due to an increase in vaccine allocation, the number of doses the health district usually received double this week and is expected to double again next week, according to the health district.

Residents eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine can schedule an appointment by calling the health district at 937-717-2439 or can schedule online at ccchd.com.
