“In Clark County, residents can check the amount of right-of-way near a property at the Clark County Auditor’s Office website," Clark County Engineer John Burr said.
Prohibited signs include political/campaign, employment opportunities, real estate and items for sales or garage sale signs.
The most frequent illegal signs placed in the right-of-way are for political candidates as well as advertisements with toll-free phone numbers, the release said.
“Signs in the right-of-way may cause undue safety hazards and obstruct motorist’s clear line of sight while traveling, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation," the release said.
Signs in the right-of-way may be removed by ODOT and county maintenance and can be picked up at the ODOT county garage or the Clark County Engineer’s garage depending on where the sign was found, the release said.
