A 59-year-old Champaign County man was killed Wednesday morning in a crash involving a semitrailer.
Mark Roderick of Rosewood was headed east just after 6:30 a.m. on state Route 29 West when he struck a semitrailer as it was backing into a driveway, according to the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened in the 6600 block of state Route 29 West when Brian Houpt, 42, of St. Paris was backing the 2006 Volvo tractor-trailer.
Roderick, who was driving a 1999 Honda Civic, was taken to Mercy Health-Urbana Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the sheriff’s office.
Houpt was not injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
