The original contract for $345,422 was to replace about 48,000 square feet on the western portion of the roof on Ledbetter Road as well as the 18,400 square foot roof at the sheriff’s office, 120 E. Main St., according to county records.
The county ended its contract with the company in July after “two major leakage events that resulted in some internal damage,” according to Greene County Administrator Brand Huddleson.
“We worked with the contractor and their insurance company to correct the problems. Based on those two events, we chose to terminate the contract,” Huddleson said.
The payment covers the cost for Ohio and Indiana Roofing completing approximately 63 percent of the required work on Ledbetter Road, according to the settlement. As part of the agreement, the company agreed to replace “all wet and moldy insulation” and reseal the roof to a water-tight condition.
The county is currently in the bidding process to find a new company to complete the work needed on the Ledbetter Road building and at the sheriff’s office. In addition, the county is receiving bids until early January for work on the center section roof at the Ledbetter Road building.

The county is also getting roofing work done at the juvenile justice center near Progress Drive on Xenia’s west side.
Enterprise Roofing was awarded the contract for the work at a cost to the county of $421,225, according to county records.
Ohio and Indiana Roofing is part of Bruns Construction Enterprises. Michael Bruns, who signed the agreement on behalf of Ohio and Indiana Roofing, did not return messages seeking comment.
