Shoot for a shot: Greene County vaccine clinic offers day at the shooting range

Get a shot and receive a voucher to take some shots at the shooting range during a Greene County coronavirus vaccination clinic.

Greene County Public Health partnered with the Ohio Division of Wildlife to offer a free day at the shooting range for those vaccinated at the “Shoot for a Shot” clinic.

The clinic is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Spring Valley Shooting Range and Education Center at 3570 Houston Road in Waynesville.

“We know that it is important to bring life-saving COVID-19 vaccines to people at the places they go, and offer incentives with the things they do and enjoy,” Greene County Health Commissioner Melissa Howell said. “Partnering with the Ohio Division of Wildlife to offer a day of free shooting for those who get the shot is a perfect match.”

The Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines all will be available. The Pfizer vaccine is currently the only one authorized for ages 12-17. The Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccine is authorized for ages 18 and older. Pfizer and Moderna are two-dose shots and Johnson & Johnson is only one dose.

Any minors at the vaccination clinic must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The Ohio Division of Wildlife will also have certified firearms instructors, firearms and ammunition available to help teach beginners.

Those who are vaccinated Saturday will receive a voucher to shoot at the range that day or to returner another day.
