A three-vehicle crash on U.S. 68 today in Xenia. Twp. killed one person and left two other people injured.

The Xenia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol identified the person as Harry Newcomer Jr., 43, of Dayton.

Crews responded to reports of a multi-vehicle around 11:34 a.m. near Winchester Road on U.S. 68, according to the patrol.

The driver of the 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe was stopped southeast bound on U.S. 68, yielding to northwest bound traffic, before turning left into a private drive, the patrol said.

Newcomer in the 2010 Ford Fusion was traveling southeast on U.S. 68 and swerved left to avoid striking the rear of the Hyundai. He then struck the left rear of the Hyundai, traveled left of the centerline, then hit a 2010 Chevrolet that came northeast on U.S. 68.

The driver of the Ford was not wearing a safety belt and died from the crash.

The driver of the Hyundai and Chevrolet were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and both were wearing a safety belt, according to OSHP.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Xenia Twp. Fire, Department/EMS and the towing services: W&W Automotive, Parson’s Towing and A-Towing assisted on scene.
