Church services for the Christmas holidays

Wednesday, Dec. 23

7 to 8:30 p.m.:

Christ Chapel will hold a candlelight family service “Christmas Memories in the Making” in the Agape Center, 2404 Troy Road, Springfield. Refreshments will be served following service. For more information, call (937) 390-1717.

Thursday, Dec. 24

3:30 to 5:30 p.m.:

The Springfield Clergy will hold a free catered dinner at Faith United Methodist Church, 102 W. High St.

6 and 9 p.m.: Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1801 St. Paris Pike, will hold Christmas Eve worship services. Both services include the Festival of Lights and the Sacrament of Holy Communion. The 6 p.m. worship service will focus upon children and families. The service will include the traditional stable procession, a children's sermon and singing from the children's music ministry. The 9 p.m. service will provide a quieter, more contemplative worship opportunity, enriched by many expressions of the Grace music ministry.

7 p.m.: Faith United Methodist Church, 102 W. High St., will hold a candle light service with Bishop C. Joseph Sprague as the guest speaker.

7 p.m.: Rockway Lutheran Church, 3517 W. National Road, will hold a traditional Christmas Eve service of "Carols, Candles and Communion." This event is open to the community.

7 p.m.: Central Christian Church, Villa Road, will have a candlelight service.

7 p.m.: The Choir of the Plattsburg United Church of Christ will present the cantata, "King Forever." The program will conclude with a candlelight communion service.

7:30 p.m.: Emery Chapel will have a Christmas Eve service and will feature Connect III ladies trio and EC3 Jazz Trio. Holy communion will be served during the service.

5 and 10 p.m.: The birth of the Savior will be celebrated on Christmas Eve at First Lutheran Church. The 10 p.m. service is preceded by special music beginning at 9:30 p.m. There will be candlelight services with Holy Communion.

5:30 p.m.: Covenant Presbyterian Church, 201 N. Limestone St., will hold a Christmas Eve candlelight service.

8 p.m.: The South Charleston United Methodist Church will hold a Candlelight Christmas Eve Service. The service will feature a message by Pastor Doug Thompson and special Christmas music.

Friday, Dec. 25

10 a.m.:

New Deliverance Original Church of God will host its annual Christmas Service at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 1010 Dibert Ave. Dr. Charles Thomas Montgomery will be the speaker and Paul Watford Thomas will be the guest soloist.

Sunday, Dec. 27

8 and 10:30 a.m.:

There will be services of Carols at First Lutheran Church.

10 a.m.: Rockway Lutheran Church members will worship with its neighbors at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
