Hocking Hills landmark declared one of the most ‘stunning’ destinations in America

Insider, a popular online publication with a national readership, named Cedar Falls as one of the most stunning destinations in the United States. And, considering its competition, this was no easy feat.

For its part, Insider came up with a list of the most awe-inspiring natural landmarks in the United States, including stunning destinations like Thor's Well in Oregon, Taggart Lake in Grand Teton National Park, Crater Lake in Oregon and yes, Cedar Falls.

Cedar Falls, located in the Lower Gorge of Old Man’s Cave in Hocking Hills State Park, has been beloved by naturalists, hikers and outdoors enthusiasts for decades. The trail leading to the falls passes through some of the most beautiful and wild scenery in Ohio, remote and laden with hemlock, steep rock walls, grottos and accompanying waterfalls.

Throughout the 19th century, a grist mill stood atop Cedar Falls, utilizing the energy created by the rapidly moving water to grind its grains.

Located near Logan, Ohio, just a two-hour drive from Dayton and 45-minute drive from nearby Athens, the Cedar Falls are accessible via the Cedar Falls Trail, a nearly mile-long hike that proves to be relatively easy for every outdoors enthusiast.

When describing Cedar Falls, Insider lauded the accessibility of its beauty:

“Hocking Hills State Park has seven different hiking trails, and Cedar Falls is a must. The trail itself is only a half-mile long and perfect for kids of all ages. It ends with a whimsical waterfall plunging over moss-covered rocks and surrounded by huge trees. Because the trail is so short, it's a great spot to have a picnic or spend an afternoon relaxing.”
