The VFW supports all veterans and troops through programs established to generate funds to help those in need. Operating a canteen is just one of those programs, and you should know that not all VFWs have a canteen.
The VFW also supports a national home for widows and orphans and the community in which it is located. Each post has its own programs; the post I am affiliated with sponsors the Memorial Day parade, the local Fourth of July celebration, the community Easter egg hunt for the children, a community bicycle derby, an annual fishing derby, children’s Christmas party, Halloween party and many more.
Our post visits local nursing homes and veterans’ hospitals. We also support our local and county law enforcement agencies.
All these programs and many more take an enormous amount of funds. Any VFW post will be more than happy to accept your donation (which is tax-deductible) if you would like to help.
