Support for candidates for County Commissioner, County Auditor, Ohio Attorney General

Lohnes man of character, integrity

As a longstanding member of the 178th Fighter Wing, I’ve had the privilege to work with and for Rick Lohnes in both peacetime and deployed wartime operations. He is a man of strong character and integrity who has always spoken highly of Roger Tackett’s service to his country.

This community is honored and blessed to have these two fine veterans volunteering to represent us on the Clark County Commission. I take exception to any comments that Rick Lohnes is anything but an enthusiastic patriot, respectful of his fellow veterans and a class act by any measure.

As commander, Rick helped develop the Springfield base into one of the finest facilities in all of the Air National Guard. His visionary leadership spearheaded the Dutch pilot training mission that added over 100 jobs to our economy. He is now asking for a chance to share and demonstrate that same leadership with the Clark County Commission. Vote Lohnes.

Tackett is a man of his word

There is no doubt that Roger Tackett deserves to be re-elected to the Clark County Commission.

He has shown great leadership as the president of the commission, repeatedly making sound decisions that have benefited all the citizens of Clark County.

It would take several pages to list all his many accomplishments. I will say that two of Roger Tackett’s strongest attributes are that he genuinely cares about people and he is a man of his word. He can be trusted to do right by the citizens of Clark County.

In these times of nothing but negative political advertising, it is indeed refreshing to me that I have never heard him utter any negative comments about his opponent. That is a quality that has to be admired.

Please join me in voting for Roger Tackett.

Lohnes experienced in managing people

Who are we going to elect to run Clark County government?

Consider our incumbent commissioner. He has been in office 28 years, raised taxes how many times, and still the county is facing a $2 million deficit for next year and he calls it “routine.” Since when is a deficit routine?

Consider our challenger, Rick Lohnes. He has experience in managing people as commander of the Springfield Air National Guard Base and, at the same time, balancing a $94 million budget. He was born and raised locally, graduated from Capital University, served his country as a combat pilot in Iraq, and, as a previous coach, he knows how to motivate people.

I want fair tax appraisals on everyone’s property ... I don’t want higher taxes because a commissioner thinks it’s “routine.” I think it’s time to elect Rick Lohnes as our new commissioner.

Letter writer owes Lohnes apology

In an earlier letter, Ron Vincent asks a writer, “Why is your candidate, who is a retired officer in the United States Air Force, running against a disabled American veteran?” He answers his own question with, “He must not have any respect for Roger’s service either.”

The accuser’s flawed logic suggests that anyone who runs against a disabled veteran shows disrespect for his service. I served with Lohnes for 21 years and know he has the utmost respect for Tackett’s service.

Lohnes will work tirelessly for Clark County. He has superb leadership skills, a wealth of experience and the energy required to tackle difficult problems such as high unemployment and a $2 million deficit.

County commissioner is not lifetime entitlement. The job belongs to the people of Clark County who will soon choose. In the meantime, Vincent owes Lohnes an apology.

Roger Tackett should be re-elected

Roger Tackett expends more energy before breakfast than most people do all day, including myself.

Roger is a fine U.S. Vietnam Marine veteran, whom this U.S. Vietnam Army veteran would have been proud to have as his leader in war. I’ve never heard this man complain about anything. That’s grounds enough for me to want him to keep on leading Clark County as commissioner.

If you want to avoid a county racket, then vote for Tackett.

Lohnes helped retain jobs at base

I support Rick Lohnes for Clark County commissioner.

As a retired commander of the178th Fighter Wing, Ohio Air National Guard Base, he worked with a $94 million dollar budget and more than 1,000 personnel. He helped to retain and create jobs during the base realignment acts.

Rick will work diligently with county, city and townships for the best interest for all.

So if Clark County wants a bonus, cast a vote for Rick Lohnes.

Federer, Lohnes should be elected

I support John Federer for the county auditor and John Lohnes for county commissioner.

Federer has a degree in real estate and has 34 years of executive management in the financial industry. The kind of perfection and experience we need in the auditors office.

Lohnes is a 34-year USAF and Ohio ANG combat F-16 pilot who served in Iraq.

He has managed a $94 million budget without deficits and helped bring jobs to Clark County. Time for a change, vote Rick Lohnes for commissioner.

Sodders has shown compassion

As a member of the executive committee of the County Auditors’ Association of Ohio, Clark County Auditor George Sodders worked hard to reform Ohio’s Homestead Exemption Program for our senior citizens. George advocated the elimination of the income test so that all our senior citizens now qualify to receive the reduction in the taxable value of their homes.

As an economist, George recognized that a growing number of senior citizens were becoming cash poor, even as their home values were going up. As auditor, he witnessed first hand their struggle to remain in their homes after retirement.

George Sodders has shown compassion and leadership as a public servant. He deserves to be voted for auditor again.

George Sodders has protected our money

I have always voted for George Sodders as county auditor and will do so again this year.

He has demonstrated honesty and integrity in public service. His office has, over the years, accounted for some $200 million in taxes and other sources of revenue, and every single penny has been accurately accounted for. That’s what good auditors do, they protect our money.

Join me in re-electing George Sodders, Clark County auditor.

Sodders’ website shows transparency

If you have access to the Internet, I encourage you to go to www.clarkcountyauditor.org. That’s the website of Clark County Auditor George Sodders. Talk about transparency in local government, it’s all there — financial data, property values, dog licensing, protection for our children while at school, early warning notifications and much more.

George has opened up the auditor’s office to better serve all our citizens. Help keep George working for us with your vote on Nov. 2.

Sodders is hard working, intelligent

I know George Sodders. I worked with him on the assembly line at Navistar. I walked a picket line with him. I watched him guide our union through the longest strike in the history of our company as a financial secretary of Local 402. I saw him struggle to raise a family while going to college at night.

George is hard working, intelligent and down to earth. He’s the kind of guy you want to sit down with after work, drink a beer and talk about current events.

There is no other elected official in Clark County who measurers up to our county auditor.

I’m so proud and honored to say that I will once again vote for George Sodders.

Cordray has fought crime for state

Richard Cordray has served Ohio for many years as Franklin County treasurer, Ohio State treasurer, and as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives. He currently serves as the attorney general for Ohio.

He has been honored for his excellent work in the areas of crime-fighting, environmental protection, and his efforts on behalf of families and children.

A graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, Cordray has devoted his energy and talents for the good of Ohio.

His opponent, Mike DeWine, has instead chosen to pander to political extremists by promising to file a lawsuit (at taxpayer expense) against the new health care plan.

Vote to keep Richard Cordray as Ohio’s attorney general.

Richard Cordray should be re-elected

As Clark County treasurer, I am honored to endorse the re-election of Richard Cordray for Ohio attorney general.

Cordray is a dedicated, hard-working public servant who has served Ohio well.

Please join me in the support of Richard Cordray, Ohio attorney general.
