Speak Up: Readers debate trains, Legend and handicap stickers

Spend $400 million for a rail line that a few people will ride? Give that money to a school and people out of work.

The rail will take people to other cities to work because there are no jobs in Springfield.

We are a car culture, not rail.

Having rail service will give us temp jobs. How much of the service will be used?

Another weekend without girls basketball on the radio.

The New Orleans Saints are cheating devils.

The New Orleans Saints do not play fair. Go Colts.

The Democrats will not compromise.

I went to the post office this morning to find the parking lot full. I went in and two people there. All the rest were at our court buildings. These lots are posted for post office use only. Quit being lazy.

Re John Legend: Here we go again. His picture is always in the paper.

What is with the newspaper? It is more like a newsletter. Something needs to change.

Springfield City Schools need to remember the safety of the children and teachers first.

The City of Springfield needs to read the News-Sun and how the LED bulbs freeze and no one can read the traffic lights before they decide to switch over all our lights.

Re handicap stickers: You do have to have a physician's prescription to receive one. You can't just walk in and get one.

Thank you, County Commissioners David Hartley and Roger Tackett for your resolution to give county employees paid holidays for Good Friday and Nov. 12. Enough is enough for unpaid mandatory furloughs, layoffs and extreme work loads.

Tinted car windows: I have skin cancer. Many medical conditions require tinted car windows.

We live on a short street nowhere near the hospital or university, and foreclosures have changed the makeup of our neighborhood.

From 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. is too long for a homeless person to be out on the street.

How can someone hit my car in the mall parking lot and do $1,600 worth of damage and not even leave a note?

From News-Sun front page: Gov. Ted Strickland said, "You have my word on this: I will move Heaven and Earth to create jobs in Ohio and I will not rest until it's done." Gov. Strickland must think he's higher than God, or he's lying!
